New HP Z1 All in One Workstation PC

HP Z1 Workstation with Autodesk 3ds Max

HP announced their new all-in-one PC desktop computer workstation the HP Z1 and Autodesk was there with HP in Las Vegas for the unveiling of this new workstation and demonstrated it with several Autodesk design and visualization software products. The HP Z1 looks like a really nice option to dump the standard box chassis workstation and its associated spaghetti of wires for a new sleek, compact, and nice looking pc workstation. For those concerned about an all-in-one computer preventing their breaking open the chassis to swap components or make repairs you can rest at ease as you can open this chassis. It has nice hardware components including the NVIDIA Quadro graphics card to cause the pixels to dance and squeal on the 27 inch LED display.

I am currently looking for a desktop PC workstation alternative to my laptop when in my office and need the horsepower or of a workstation and am really considering this new HP Z1.

The HP Z1 will begin shipping in April for more info see www.hp.com/z1

I also heard via Twitter that Autodesk Chief Marketing Officer Chris Bradshaw showed an image my infamous 1982 AutoCAD floppy at the event.

Cheers,

Is the Quadro graphic card certified for AutoCAD 2012? Are the performance drivers available on this Workstation for AutoCAD 2012? (they are not for the Quadro graphic cards for this AutoCAD release)

The hardware is not avaiable but I can ask the hardware team.

Just read on Slashgear
http://www.slashgear.com/hp-z1-workstation-hands-on-14213522/
“The graphics card uses a MXM standard, which will require custom cards from Nvidia – the base model uses Intel integrated graphics, but Quadro 500M, 1000M, 3000M and 4000M graphics cards are optional. Standard PCI-E cards will not work.”
So depending on model of Quadro you would get we mnight already have the Quadro drivers certified.

But what about when Win 8 arrives & you want a touch screen? Nice design but rarely have I wanted to update screen & hardware at same time

A touch screen would be nice but not ideal for this unit. I think it would need to be horizontal otherwise your arm would surely get very tired.
I need a workstation as my workstation class laptop cannot hold enough power for the projects I work on. For me the Z1 might be a nice clutter free workstation option.

A touchscreen would be great.

A 23inch version would be perfect for me! 27 is too big sadly.
You wouldn’t happen to know of any other all-in-one’s that are good for running AutoCAD? I can’t seem to find a spec that is quite right.
