AutoCAD crashes when the File menu is accessed

I have been working with a customer that has AutoCAD 2007 crashing and I wanted to share the solution as it could be common. It is related to another product installing a bad version MFC80U.DLL to their machine. Some applications are incorrectly installing debug versions of this MFC80U.DLL in error causing problems for other applications including AutoCAD. We have published a knowledge base solution to this issue.
