These virtual replicas can transform the way we work in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) world and the data we use to inform decisions and drive design.

It is great for HVAC design performance and indoor air quality, structural readings on a tall tower, or perhaps what is the electrical performance and what is consuming the power.

Most industries are investigating and/or implementing Digital Twins such as the Manufacturing industry. Think of the benefits to a machine or auto manufacturer to get data on how their designs perform in simulation or real life, and can update to performance tune them or improve the future designs.
What's NOT a Digital Twin
Now that we know what a digital twin is, let's clarify what it isn't. A digital twin isn't just a 3D model or a CAD drawing. It's more than that! It's a dynamic model that evolves with its physical counterpart, incorporating real-time data and interactions. So, while a 3D model or CAD drawing can be part of a digital twin, on their own, they don't make the cut.
