AEC Hackathon Online – Join In and Bust Silos

AEC Hackathon Online
I would encourage anyone in the AEC, technology, and the built environment industries looking to break silos and explore new ways of doing things and meeting like minded awesome people to look into joining the upcoming AEC Hackathon.

This year the Hackathon will be online due to the current world events with COVID-19, but there are already plans to get back together, and hopefully we do it again in Copenhagen at BloxHub (AEC Hackathon Copenhagen 2020). I will be involved in both the online and in person AEC Hackathons. The AEC Hackathon is not an Autodesk event and instead founded and managed by a great team from the AEC industry.  Autodesk is involved in sponsorship, employees presenting, mentoring, and enjoy participating.

AEC Hackathon Online July 2020 https://www.hackaec.com/

“AEC Hackathon online is a multi-week experience of online presentations, workshops, interviews, mentor hours, meetups, hackathon, and more.

The AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) Hackathon was created to give those designing, building, and maintaining our built environment the opportunity to collaborate with cutting edge technologies and its developers and designers. It’s a weekend of geeking at its finest for improving the industries that affect all that live or work in a house or building. It has quickly become a global community of innovators that include all elements of the built environment.“

Hackathons aka innovation sprints are a great way to innovate and break silos of thinking and process to find better ways to accomplish something or the unexpected desirable outcomes. It is also a lot of fun to be challenged in a limited amount of time and working with new team members. I just finished a innovation sprint hackathon event within Autodesk Global Consulting where we had 9 global teams of 6 members each propose challenges and the solution, and then present them. It is challenging and gives team members breathing room to try something new or a concept out.

Have you done something similar internally to find new solutions as well exercise creativity and busting “rinse, wash, repeat” workflows to challenges and exercise capabilities?

Hope to see you at a future AEC Hackathon!

Cheers,
Shaan
