AutoCAD 2017 System Requirements
23 March 2016
So the new AutoCAD 2017 version has been released this week and you want to know if your current computer is up to the task?
The published system requirements will help you determine this. One thing to be aware of is something's like the Operating System are set in stone but graphics and memory recommended amounts could vary depending on the size and complexity of the drawings you work with. One of the most common comments from participants during the pre-release beta process was the increased performance of the 2D and 3D graphics with AutoCAD 2017 even on the same hardware. The AutoCAD Team did a great deal of work under the hood in this release. Most users running AutoCAD 2015 or 2016 should be just fine with 2017.
I would recommend at least 16GB of memory for modern laptop or desktops today for most graphics software tasks, not just AutoCAD. Memory is cheap today and almost always a benefit. I also recommend a solid state drive (SSD) to increase the performance of your system.
Operating System
- Microsoft® Windows® 10
- Microsoft Windows 8.1 with Update KB2919355
- Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
Memory
For 32-bit AutoCAD 2017:
- 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
- 4 GB (8 GB recommended)
