3D Builder App To Create LEGO Assembly Instructions
02 September 2013
We know the excitement in receiving a big box of LEGOs, but few are excited to pour over a 50 page booklet to begin building. To help you out, Autodesk and LEGO have collaborated in developing the newly released 3D Builder app, containing interactive 3D assembly instructions for the latest LEGO MINDSTORM robots. Now that users can leverage the native gestures on a tablet, the building experience is more intuitive and more enjoyable.
The app’s interactivity allows me to see the model from any angle I want for a better building experience. This app is a great opportunity for Autodesk to show off Publisher technology, while giving LEGO an innovative alternative to bulky 2D printed booklets.
This is a great Autodesk success story, and the app is currently being exhibited at the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco. You can also download the app for free from Google Play or the App Store and see for yourself just how amazing this technology is.
These interactive instructions are forward thinking and have game changing potential for the industry. It’s easy to imagine many 2D instruction booklets being replaced by this technology. The Autodesk Inventor Publisher technology leveraged in this app gives users the ability to view an assembly process, interact with the model in a friendly environment, and it’s paper-free!
