The Most Comfortable Technical Event Ever
10 May 2010
Last Thursday May 6th 2010 I attended an event in Salt Lake City Utah hosted by Autodesk partner ProSoft. ProSoft is also celebrating their 25th anniversary 1985-2010 and looking forward to many more years.
The event was free and for users of several Autodesk products like Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, and AutoCAD Map 3D. There were industry tracks with 15 breakout sessions. The top notch experts leading sessions were ProSoft’s own experts Shawn Herring and Kevin Ellis, and from Autodesk we had Amy Fietkau, William Spiers, and Pete Southwood. Around 200 were in attendance at the packed event where many great presentations were held throughout the day complete with a free BBQ lunch.
In addition to all the great sessions, I was amazed that one of the rooms in the facility where the event was held (room, number 104 to be exact) had a room full of plush leather electric reclining systems and cup holders. It was the most comfortable technical session I had ever attended. These chairs raised the bar for the presenters to keep attendees from falling asleep in those comfortable chairs. I did not see one person close their eyes, just smiles around the room. One side effect of the leather recliners was that when the seats were moving to recline, they made a whoopee cushion sound.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of ProSoft, some1980’s photos of people in attendance were shown.
The ProSoft crew hit a home run as the event was smooth running, top sessions, and overall a superb experience.
Cheers,
Shaan
